I'm a documentary photographer. I make pictures of events that really happen. I try to fill my photographs with personality, honesty and feeling.

Why weddings? Because I love to take photos of people - the human condition. The laughter, the tears, the drinking, the fighting, the kisses, the hugs, the raving and the ball room dancing, the elegant and the rough, the kids and the old ladies, the embarrassing speeches and the loving glances. All of these things and more can be found at a wedding. I don't want to miss any of it and neither should you.

Shaun Carr About

This is exactly what happens when you approach group shots by drinking three glasses of wine with the guests at dinner and telling them 'Do what you like, I don't care!

Shaun Carr About

The bride, Ash, was reading from a card. I can't remember what it said but it was lovely enough that it managed to get a tear out of her. Then everything just came together. Everyone positioned themselves just right. Ash started doing that weird flappy hand thing that girls do and started laughing. Then the pointed finger came in from the corner of the frame and I had the shot. I worked the scene as well - straight after this all of the girls started a hand flapping storm around Ash's face. I thought this shot was better, though!
