Before she was going to meet up with her husband-to-be for the first look, she wanted to have this cute shot of her throwing flower pedals on the bed! Her smile was so cute and I could see her happiness a lot, and what's cool about this shot is that the flower pedals shaped almost looks like a big heart around her!

On their honeymoon, they decided to use one morning in Barcelona for a destination wedding portrait shoot. We walked throughout the city. The sun light through the street was so beautiful, so I asked them to walk towards the light, just like representing that they will be walking together for the rest of their lives together towards the bright future :)

This couple let me decided which beach to shoot at, so I wanted to go explore an unusual beach where no one is around. We were the only people on this secret beach with beautiful water - this scenery was all for themselves! With her favorite flower Protea, her favorite person on the earth, she looked very happy. How he looked at her in a gentle way throughout our photo shoot showed how much he loved her deeply.

On our way from an island to another island in the Philippines, the sun came out, the water was super glassy. The boat captain was standing where the couple is standing in this photo, and what I saw was so heavenly. I asked the captain to stop the boat for us, and I asked the couple to stand on the nose of the boat, and just listen to the nature together. The weather was perfect on this day; the colors of the water and the sky were so beautiful. What a perfect day for a journey, as the first day of their life-long voyage together.

Paris - City of Love. Perhaps the most romantic city on Earth for a newlywed couple. Saori and Yoshihiko always wanted their iconic wedding photos to be taken during their honeymoon in Paris. We gathered on a quiet Sunday morning, just before the city began to wake. I was lucky and overjoyed to capture their love against the Parisian background. This is a place they can visit again and again. They can look back and cherish this special moment frozen in time.

People in love keep photos of each other in their wallets, on their desks, in their phones. Sometimes you can sense the strength of emotion through those photos. When I met this couple, I knew how important it was for them to capture a photo that showed their unity and love. I wanted to show that their love was no longer confined to a frame - they will be together every day and don't need photos to remember each other.

Inclement weather cannot damp the spirit of a wedding. Sometimes plans change; it's a challenge. You have to think outside the box and leverage the environment to really capture the moment. This couple was planning to hold their wedding ceremony in a beautiful garden. It was supposed to be a ceremony surrounded by green. But on their special day, the weather didn't cooperate. It rained all day. The ceremony had to relocate to a covered area, and then to another covered area for their formal photo and video sessions. Lei and Billy were so happy to be together, they seemed unfazed by the change of plans. And they never showed us anything but smiles throughout the day. From the moment they came together at the ceremony, they only had eyes for each other. “ ... from this day forward, for better, for worse … ” They adapted to the change of plans with grace and serenity and made this shot possible. It was easy to see that their love for each other was the real thing.

This photo was taken at Grand Central station in NYC. Yuna and Ryohei were visiting from Japan to pick up her wedding dress from Vera Wang store, and they decided to have an engagement session with me during their stay. Yuna is a big fan of SATC, and some of the locations she requested were from that show. When we visited this location, I wanted to place them in the center of the frame, looking into each other's eyes - just falling in love with one another, and time has stopped… The slower shutter speed and the monochrome finish were helpful to create this feel in this one shot.

It was after shooting a wedding in Maui, Hawaii. I decided to go to the beach to take some photos of the stars for my clients who were visiting from Canada. I thought they would come out to stargaze at some point, so I wanted to include a night-sky photo on the beach for their memories.<br />
When I arrived at the beach, I found a perfect spot. Good composition. However, there was a couple sitting in the middle of the frame already. They were cuddling, enjoying the view. At first I thought I would move to another location for my photo. Then I thought it would be nice to take a photo for them on this clear night with an almost new moon for their memories.
The beach couple told me later that they decided to go out to see the stars just before taking the shuttle back to the airport. It was their first trip without their kids in 10 years. The wife was happy how the photo turned out, and told me that she would print it on canvas for her husband as a Christmas present. Her email made my day, and I was glad that I talked to them that beautiful night.

Shooting in Italy is a dream with its world-class architecture and historical sites. There were old stone buildings with archways, engravings, and statues all over Venezia, and I selected this location for our night shoot, where I could use the lighting to accentuate this beautiful city and newlywed couple.

This photo was taken while exploring Montmarte in Paris. The couple are high school sweethearts; he was on the baseball team and she was a cheerleader. After 7 years of dating, they married in Tokyo and came to Paris for their honeymoon. As I was scouting locations in Paris, I fell in love with the beautiful scenery and architecture of Montmarte, in Paris' 18th arrondissement. It provided a perfect backdrop for this couple's urban honeymoon.
