As an award-winning photographer,‭ ‬Veronica L Yankowski knows how to tell a story in a single frame.‭ ‬In‭ ‬2005 she left the newspaper industry after 11 years and applied her dramatic documentary style to portraiture,‭ ‬which opened new creative possibilities for her work.‭ ‬She named her company VeroLuce Photography.‭ “‬Vero‭” –‬a play on her name‭ –‬is the Latin word for truth,‭ ‬as is‭ “L‬uce‭” ‬for light.‭ ‬She photographs her subjects in the best light possible,‭ ‬all the while capturing their true personality and creating portraits that are often described as‭ “‬soulful.‭”

While shooting portraits with the couple and bridal party, I noticed the groomsmen just weren't into the photos making it a challenge to make some portraits. The bridal party was large, 22 people, so I decided to loosen them up by having some fun. I suggested they try to make a pyramid or carry the groom as I thought the attempts would make some great candids. And then this started to happen. As they lifted him I told them to pass him around like he was crowd surfing and I was laying on the ground below them. Not only did I get some great candids, but the groomsmen warmed up to me and followed my lead thereafter.

This shot was totally unplanned and just a casual moment for Carl & Danielle on their wedding day. I’m glad I happened to be in the right spot to capture this sweet moment.

Amanda & Brian just found out they’re having a girl. I have been photographing Amanda since she was 16 years old. I’ve photographed their engagement and wedding and now their gender reveal. They were in utter disbelief as they were convinced it was a boy. To create this image we used smoke bombs and two godox ad200; one behind them and one in front with magmod spheres attached. And the dusting of snow added a magical touch!

When we were outside doing some formal photos I noticed this mirror hanging on the side of the house. I knew I wanted to incorporate it in an image. I took my shoes off and climbed on top of the patio set so I could see her reflection in the mirror. I knew I would be able to make an image that the bride loved immediately!
