After the wedding ended we went for a special late night / early morning photoshoot. This picture was taken at the Jerusalem old city walls waiting for the sunrise.
It's basically zero degrees F out. Water splashing everywhere. They braved it all to climb out on the rocks and get in position. I was sting half on the rocks, half in water. My assistant kept inching close to get the light just right. In the end, we had to literally pull hard to get her dress off of the rock as it was totally frozen. I loved it all!
Near the end of the reception, during a break in dance sets, I offered to take the bride and groom outside under the night sky.
At the end of a long day, and after so many hours in the high energy ballroom,
they seemed to value sharing a few quiet moments together, away from friends and family.
I only ask them to fall into each other's arms, backlight them, step away to give them space, then try to capture the scene.
If I gave this photo a title, it would be "Kristen and Greg’s Midsummer Night’s Dream!"
When walking through the 'valley of shadows,' remember, a shadow is cast by a Light..the complete picture of them we compose in our minds those ideas have certainly a special place.
