Because of COVID19, Hannah and Myles had to move their wedding and decided on doing it in Myles's parent's backyard. We didn't have a big grandiose ballroom or nature view of the mountains, but that wasn't going to stop me from creating something unique and epic for them.
I thought, "How could I tell this story creatively using what we have in the backyard?"
When I saw the fire pit and stacks of firewood, I decided that was it. A romantic moment by the fireplace together.
The moment happened in a *split* second... pun intended. While everyone on the dance floor was enjoying themselves, out of nowhere comes the uncle and falls down to the floor into the splits! Seeing this moment unfolding, I fell down to the ground as fast as I could to capture this epic moment from down low. It happened so fast and I didn't have enough time to get my eye up to the viewfinder - so I sprayed and prayed. Out of the 6 or so shots, I got lucky enough to have this ONE just right. Perfect.
We thought we had it all planned out... The perfect location, the exact timing, and perfect positioning of the Milkyway.
But after driving out 4 hours to get to our location, I discovered the park had just recently installed an electronic gate and there was no way we were going to shoot where we wanted.
We had hardly any cellular reception and no backup plan - but I wasn't going to let this opportunity go to waste. So after scouting around the area for another potential spot, I found this ridge at the side of the road (of all places) with a wide-open view of the sky. We made it happen!
