Claire and Phil were just one of those super relaxed couples that were easy and pleasurable to work with. This was about the fourth time we had tried to do their engagement shoot as we were constantly rained off, thankfully the weather and light were worth the wait on this evening when we finally got out to do the photos. We had a great time climbing up on all the rocks and ledges at Brimham Rocks in Harrogate to get this and other great shots. Although I'm quite sure Claire wasn't as comfortable with the heights as it looks here!
Percy and Iris married in a very fancy venue at Nijmegen. The venue is full of chandeliers and candlelights. At the bar, I made this picture of them in the afternoon. I light them with a sunlight and the lights of the chandeliers did the rest.
Alea & Nick’s wedding was held at St Paul’s Cathedral in London in April, which is a stunning venue but frustrating as a photographer as there are quite a few restrictions regarding not taking photos. We managed to grab access to the famous ‘Harry Potter Staircase’ for just a few minutes allowing me to capture this shot. I would have gone higher but I suffer from Vertigo!
I photographed Katrina & Graham’s wedding at Baddow Park in Essex, which was a fantastic event. I had packed all my gear away and was in the process of saying ‘goodnight’ when I saw the opportunity for this shot. Amazingly this was the very last frame I took that day and was a bit of an experiment really, but I’m really pleased with how it came out.
While relocating shooting locations, This unplanned yet dramatic shot was taken when I directed my attention toward this incredible sky. Light and exposure all set, bride and groom standing in a pose, there was still something missing - The veil must fly! - we all agreed. Shooting without an assistant on that particular day, and knowing we must get this shot, the bride was actually the one to flag down a stranger who under my careful direction got the veiled way up there.
This was taken just after the wedding ceremony under a railway bridge next to the church. I have lived around this area all my life and had always wanted to do this shot. For a church that is so local to me, I had strangely only shot one wedding here previously. On that occasion, the light just wasn't right. I promised myself I would only make the image if it would work out as I'd hoped in my mind. One this occasion everything was right. It was sunny, the shaft of light falling on the back wall was perfect and I had a bride and groom that were as enthusiastic as me for the outcome. They both waded over gravel and dirt and we achieved this image together!
I saw the potential of this shot pretty much as I was leaving the wedding. The Bride and Groom at this point were surrounded by guests on the dance floor. I battled my way through the crowd to find them and they were both more than happy to take some time out for what I thought would be a great image. Having positioned them where I wanted them I set about creating the shot, fumbling around with a prism to reflect the lights above and getting very strange looks from onlookers. It was this point the Groom decided to lift his bride up elevating not just his bride but the end image from good to great!
Wendy and Steve were such a fearless couple. When the weather is like this all day at your wedding, it's important to get a shot that stands out forever.. we all got soaked and laughed loads.
This image was taken on the couple's wedding day at one of Perth's most popular location for wedding couples. It was an overcast day and light was pretty dull. However after placing the couple next to the pond, we managed to get a pretty nice soft light for a short period of time shining on the couple which brings out the reflecting off them on the pond. With the combination of this beautiful architecture and the gorgeous couple with the perfect soft light, we ended up with this dramatic masterpiece! The couple loves this image very much!
