Driving south from the Gold Coast to Byron Bay to shoot Will and Jess’ wedding, I could already see something pretty special happening with the light.
The wedding was in May but this Saturday was really the first taste of winter we’d had and a light cloud moved in just as I arrived.
During the ceremony, for maybe five seconds, the sun burst through the clouds and lit the ceremony up with direct sunlight, allowing for this more dramatic look before the clouds moved back in and acted like a perfected soft box for the remainder of the day.
I made two frames and this one was the keeper
Unscripted moments, in perfect settings like this are always the best. I was able to capture the magic shared between the newlyweds at their beautiful garden wedding as they made their way towards the reception.
Teresa and Phil were long-distant lovers who finally tied the knot. Lovers who hold on to their flame of love deserve the best scenic view. This photo was taken during the reception time. Who could resist this sunset of blessings?
When Marie and Lee first contacted me about photographing their wedding, they said to me that they would love to have beautiful photos that shows meaning. Upon going through their wedding photos the morning after their wedding, this first dance photo instantly became one of my favorites! I must say that this is a very special photo that I captured for Marie and Lee.
I spent a lovey afternoon with Myles and Jessica for their engagement shoot, as I got to know them, they become relaxed it was so apparent how much in love they were. We ended up spending most of the afternoon walking through the Ridgeway in Sheffield, where they both grew up. I often shoot from afar as I love to play with perspective, however they were so comfortable I didn’t thing twice at shooting up close. I just love how Myles is looking at Jessica…say's it all really!
Rottnest Island, off the coast of Western Australia was the perfect destination for Lisa and Peter’s big day. The Bride arrived by helicopter from Perth, as a surprise for the guests who looked up and waved from the beachside lighthouse ceremony location. Private cars are not allowed on Rottnest Island and the main mode of transport for visitors is by bike, so it seemed only fitting for the Groom to give the Bride a traditional Dinky (ride on the handlebars) for this photo.
Nikki and Evan's engagement session was so unique and one of a kind! Their style is naturally so old school classic and vintage flair so I wanted to set up a session that would really reflect them! I found some old mini records, old cameras, and a cute antique picnic basket and set the scene up for them! From there I was able to capture their intimate and fun moments during our session.
When driving to the rehearsal, I passed several fields of purple flowers and totally fell in love. I hoped I would find a similar landscape at the actual wedding site, but while I did find some of the flowers, there were only a few. Since I had so little to work with, I had to spend quite some time trying out different perspectives until the I found one with which I was completely happy. Then, on the wedding day, I simply asked the bride and groom to take a moment for themselves while I kept adjusting myself in the flowers until the image looked as magical as what I had envisioned.
Maria is a special friend of mine from long time and i was really excited to be her photographer on her big day. A nice small wedding in a small village on the montain, seemed to be in the 60'. An all-day long party, special location and good food made people enjoy a lot! At the end of the day, i was pretty sure to have some good special picture. Thanks to Riccardo and Maria
Rick hired me in advance to photograph his proposal and we arranged for Rick to take some selfies with his girlfriend by this palm tree at a predetermined time. Unfortunately it started raining but we stuck it out. I came over and offered to take their photo and that is when Rick got down on his knee in the rain in front of Nicky. She said yes, the sunset was on fire by the time night rolled around. This was the last photo.
This photo was the culmination of an amazing day of a wedding held on the porch of the groom's family home which sits on his parent's pecan tree farm. I love taking starscape portraits, but the milky way was behind us so I decided to use the barn as an additional element to the backdrop. There was some light pollution from the nearest town which actually made for an epic sky.
