Brigitte and Alexandre are a very sweet and reserved couple who booked their engagement and wedding photography package just 1 month before the big day last summer!
This intimate shot was taken outside their venue, The Signatures Restaurant by Le Cordon Bleu, in between their dinner and speeches when we snuck outside for a few romantic portraits
Brooke and Billy enjoy a quiet moment together toward the end of their reception. This beautiful structure is just behind their venue so we snuck off for a few shots. Special thanks to my assistant for hiding in the bushes to light the couple :)
One of their first memories of being together was at a University of Louisiana sporting event. Because UL holds a special place in their hearts, we wanted to create something epic for them! We had the chance to get out on the football field and used it as the background to their love story.
This photo was taken at Piha Beach in New Zealand and was part of their engagement session. The couple are both originally from the Island of Niue, a beautiful coral atoll in the South Pacific Ocean and wanted to incorporate the ocean into their photographs. With its dramatic landscape and black sand, Piha was an easy choice and not to far from the couples home.
This beach is famous for its surf and you can see the spray from the water in the background caused from the rough waves.
For their Trash the Dress session this couple chose to go to Seattle downtown, WA. Almost at the end of the session I noticed these orange steal-looking strips far away on the eastern edge of Seattle and I though, it must look good in photos! It was so unique! Later we learned that this was made by John Fleming and is called ‘Grass Blades’.
It’s always the last 20 minutes of a couples session that truly brings out the best art and story in my couples. Laura, David and I had spent a summer evening exploring the coastline, and to this point in the session I had kept them dry. With the setting sun spilling color and breathing life over the evening, I talked them into taking some creative risks with me.
I set them about 5 feet into the water, threw on my 24 Tilt, slowed the shutter speed a bit so I could show the motion of their run, and prepared to get wet. I coached them a bit on how I “saw” the image unfolding, and asked them to take a risk and kick up the water as they ran directly at me. We all laughed joyfully as my camera and I took most of the water.
It was so much fun, and well worth the sand and water damage to my 5D.
I love first dances and this was by far one of my most favourites. Chantal and Stephen had informed me that they would be doing a choreographed dance and showed me a video prior to the wedding, | knew the song well, seen the venue and immediately thought about this lighting set up. I wanted to give them something a little different and fun whilst keeping the focus on them. When i told them my idea they simply said yes, whatever you think is best we trust you.
I am so honored to have photographed this stunning couple, Michael and Olga. When they contacted me to do their engagement and wedding, I knew I wanted nothing less than a epic engagement session! They are so sweet, full of life, adventurous and absolutely loving! I always dreamed of doing an engagement on top of Rattlesnake Ridge, when I proposed my idea, this couple was completely down for the hike and as excited as I was for this session! To top of this dream engagement session, I was honored to work with Dream Dresses by P.M.N. and was able to have one of her dresses for this session! Everything just went spectacular, from the perfect overcast weather, to this gorgeous couple and absolutely stunning dress! Now looking forward to their wedding day to create some more amazing memories!
This photograph captures a spontaneous moment between shots. As I was setting up a different shot that I had pictured in my head of the bride and groom under the veil, the couple began to laugh and share an intimate moment. I don't know if the couple remember what they were laughing about, but I hope that this photograph will forever remind them of the fun they had on their wedding day.
Such an amazing bridal party as it had started to rain but they said they where up for anything, so I used that to my advantage! Had the best fun, I think I was standing in the middle of the road laughing so hard trying to take the photo!
This image was from my first large wedding! After the girls were ready we wanted to get some indoor shots so I just lined the girls up against the wall. The bride was more than just a princess that day, she was the Queen with her court. I think I might have said "you're surrounded by your maidens!" and then she went into this expression.
This photo was taken at The Barn at Raccoon Creek in Littleton, Colorado. It was mid-January so we were incredibly lucky to have temperatures in the mid-60's. It was warm enough, Lauren was able to rock her strapless dress without a coat, and cool enough for a few pockets of snow to be hanging around. We had so much fun just walking around the incredible grounds finding awesome spots for photos. The light was dreamy and so was this couple.
